Let’s educate neighbors and renters about noise and work guidelines—keep it down but keep it fair.
Some noisy neighbors might not even be aware that they are breaking the rules of “quiet time” at night or in the morning if they are not aware of when those hours are.
Even though you might think it should be common sense, make sure that your people (family, guests, renters, workers) are informed about noise guidelines. Members of your community should know that even if they are frustrated with the noise, the first step should not be to get law enforcement involved.
Rather, follow the next step:
First, approach the neighbor politely (in person or by phone) and simply ask them to stop the noise during the times it is both inconvenient for you and against HOA policies. Usually, cordial conversations can help resolve the issue before it escalates any further.
If possible, document persistent noise issues on paper with times and dates of the grievances or better yet, audio or video recordings of the grievances as they happen as these would help with any fines for the violations.
If the noise compliances are still ignored by the neighbor, residents should contact Shoys Guard Gate at 340-643-1641. The Guard at the gate will contact a Secure VI supervisor to check on the disturbance. Please note that a call out fee from Secure VI of $250 and a fine of up to $1,000 could be assess to the guilty party.
Forward copies of all documented material to the HOA Security to move forward with fines for the violations, if needed. The BOD’s security phone number is (340) 474-2640 and email is shoysstx@gmail.com.
